HUEHOCO GmbH secures competitiveness in Germany
The now almost 100-year-old family business from Wuppertal is responding to the challenges of the constantly changing market environment by restructuring. In this context, the shutdown of older plants is unavoidable in order to secure the company’s position on the German and international market and thus preserve the location and numerous jobs. We accompany the measure with clear communication and focus on cohesion within the company.
Increasing market demands in terms of quality, delivery reliability and sustainability made it strategically necessary to reduce ourcarbon footprint and produce more energy-efficiently. The management therefore decided to shut down the Group’s oldest coil coating line. Due to excessive and costly energy consumption, technical risks and the lack of critical spare parts, this decision was necessary and sensible.
The globalization of markets and the associated competition, worldwide crises and constant change demand innovative solutions from German SMEs time and again. “But regardless of the growing challenges, as a family business we are aware of our responsibility towards our employees,” emphasizes Managing Director Dr. Mark Herriger. “We have used all real options to secure the jobs.” Here, too, measures were found that could be implemented in close cooperation with the works council. Rigid instruments were not used for good reason. Instead, HUEHOCO GmbH relies on individual and socially acceptable solutions that are tailored to the respective needs of the employees.
The aforementioned restructuring is accompanied by a consistent modernization of the remaining facilities. This underlines the company’s commitment to sustainable business practices in Germany. “With courage, commitment and respect – our corporate values – we want to maintain our important competitiveness in the future,” explains Herriger.
